Attention!
Business Brokers, Mortgage Brokers, Accounting Professionals, Stockbrokers,
Insurance Agents...Discover the Career Opportunities in Commercial
Factoring.
Tired of over-regulation, commission cuts
(incentive programs), poor market conditions, lack of income potential?
Maybe its time you explored the career opportunities in alternative
commercial finance and the factoring industry.
What is Alternative
Commercial Finance?
As the name implies, alternative commercial finance
includes a variety of financial options available to small and midsize
business owners when more traditional commercial loans are not available
from the banks. In short, its what you do when banks say NO!
Among other financial methods, it includes asset-based lending, equipment
leasing, import-export trade finance, and purchase order / contract finance.
Most importantly, it also includes commercial factoring or the purchase of
the accounts receivable of a business for immediate cash.
About Factoring
Domestically, factoring is a $125 billion industry and is
exceptionally well practiced though certainly not a household word.
The nations largest factors, Wachovia Bank, SunTrust, GMAC, Citicorp, and
several other major banks are well known but few know of their enormous
factoring departments. Small and midsize factors are located in
virtually every major city and service hundreds of thousands of cash-starved
small business owners each year. For many of these businesses,
factoring is the financing mechanism of choice that will help owners
exponentially grow their revenues. And, although few know factoring as the well founded method
of finance that it is, even fewer are aware of the significant commissions
that can be earned by referring clients to America's factors and banks.. Such "referrers"
are part of a small but growing community of independent commercial finance
consultants or CFCs.
What Makes This an
Attractive Career Move?
Plain and simple...commissions and fees.
Certainly it is a prestige move in addition. But for those "in the
know", commissions paid to brokers in the factoring industry are almost
legendary. Consider for a moment a stockbroker. In today's
environment, a typical registered representative must have acquired over
$100 million under management to earn a six figure income. A
commercial finance consultant? Approximately one twentieth of that
amount or $5 million. Also understand that the money "flows" the other
way. While a stockbroker must receive checks from each client, the
commercial finance consultant provides capital for business owners. Add that
few careers offer the prestige of the alternative commercial finance
industry and you begin to understand some of its attractions. There
are also no licenses required or registrations needed.
Residual (Trailing) Commissions
While the commissions paid to referrers
are significant, there's more. Commissions paid in the factoring
industry are residual. This means that after a new client is referred,
the
referring broker will continue to earn a commission check each month for the
life of the account. In most cases, the services of a factor are
utilized for many years by each client. Professional brokers can
literally build annuities of business with ongoing commission checks
received each month.
Can Anyone Succeed in This
Industry?
Not really. Just as in your current vocation, many do
not come equipped with the "personal tools" for success. In
most cases, however, this is not due to lack of product knowledge. The primary
cause of failure is lack of marketing skills. And...this is exactly
why factoring and alternative commercial finance may be the perfect business for a seasoned professional like
yourself. Experienced mortgage brokers, insurance professionals,
stockbrokers, accountants, business brokers, etc. all have one thing in
common. They are experts at direct marketing and networking.
They are comfortable using the telephone for cold calls and direct mail
follow up. To them, networking is natural and comes easy. Most are even
comfortable hosting information luncheon or breakfast seminars.
Without question, the skills that make you successful in your current
vocation with do the same for you in alternative commercial finance where
income potential is virtually unlimited.
